This is the last ever season of The Newsroom. Cue tears. So far, it is at it's peak of intensity. There are only two episodes left as I'm typing this, and I honestly have no idea how they're expecting to wrap it all up.
MOVIE
Mockingjay: Part 1
As I said on Twitter, for the most part, I enjoyed Mockingjay. There was definitely moments where it was a little navel-gazey, but I did enjoy it. This, however, is not me admitting defeat to the idea of the book being split into two films. I still don't see why it was necessary. But it was good. And, The Hanging Tree. Epic.
Also, has Liam Hemsworth grown in attractiveness since the last time I saw him, or?
MUSIC
Hozier
(His new self-titled album)
I just love him, ok? He's like an Irish Blues-loving Jesus. Is that blasphemous? It wasn't supposed to be. Just take a look at him, ok. Great album. Especially loving the track 'Sedated.'
BOOK/S
The Bone Season and The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon
Dark as hell, and I had to stop midway through Mime Order, but wowzas, guys. Shit happens in the second book. I'll keep it at that.
FASHION
Purple Jumpsuit
It's really hot and this jumpsuit is made of really like fabric and it's really comfortable. That's all I really ask for during summer. Thank you Trade Secret for amazing specials.
I'll be honest here, I don't really like the novel Emma. She irritates me to no end. It's just one of those books that I'm not a fan of. I adore this mini-series though. It's witty and funny and omg. All the love. I don't know whether it's convinced me to re-read the book but I really adore this adaptation. It's a must-watch, I think.
MOVIE
I can't really make up my mind with this one. I didn't actually watch that many movies this month. I would say Captain Phillips but technically I watched that in November. Do you see my problem? I might say Thor 2.
I mean I really enjoyed it. It's a superhero movie so you know what you're getting yourself into. Bloody Loki, though.
MUSIC
Didn't really buy any new music/listen to any new music this month. Will say that this song is gorgeous and have been listening to it on repeat though.
BOOK
None of the books really wowed me this month, to be honest. But I've recently (read: last night) gotten into slam poetry and omg I just really love this piece. It's so badass. I'm obsessively watching them now. It's not healthy. At all. But poetry is still literature, right? So, here is goes.
MAKEUP/FASHION
The loveliest Susie sent me this (along with a couple other goodies) and I just really love it. It's Rimmel London's Show Off Lip Lacquer (I think it's called Apocolips in the UK) in the colour #400 Big Bang. It's pretty amazing. I always love bright reds and this is right up my alley. It isn't exactly a lipstick, but it isn't a lip gloss either. Gr8 stuff though.

So that's me for the month of October. What about you guys? What've you been loving?
I recently went through my annual re-watch of everything Castle, so I'm going to say Castle. It's one of those shows that just gets better and better with age. One of my biggest worries was that when *spoiler alert* happened, it would ruin the show. Surprisingly, it did the opposite. It made me love it so much more. The episodes are always incredibly well-written, and I mean. Nathan Fillion. Is there anything else I need to say? I won't lie though, I'm a little nervous to see where things'll go for season 6.
MOVIE Stuck in Love
Stuck in Love is my movie recommendation of the month. I'd been wanting to watch it for a good while now. This is partly because of Kayley, who sung all the praises about the movie. It's also partly because Lily Collins. And also Nat Wolff (I mean seriously, when did he get sogood-looking?) But mainly, it just sounded like a genuinely funny and well-written movie. It did not disappoint. I loved it. It's easily one of my new favourites. It's witty and deals with relatable things. It's just great, ok?
MUSIC Lorde
I'm going to go with Lorde. She's wonderful. Insanely smart, and gorgeous voice. Also, her hair.
BOOK Sleeping Dogs and The Bone Season
This is a little difficult because, as you might've seen, I read a lot of books in September. I want to say either Sleeping Dogs (by Sonya Hartnett) or The Bone Season (by Samantha Shannon). Both books might not necessarily be your cup of tea. Sleeping Dogs is a Southern Gothic set in Australia and deals with your basic family feud, incest, and unlikeable characters. While I found it a little slow, it was honestly like watching a psychological downfall in the characters. And wow. That ending.
The Bone Season, on the other hand, I think is a lot more likeable. I'm planning on writing up a full review soon, but I found it all a little insane. There are a few issues that I had (and that I know other people have had), but as a debut novel? It's pretty impressive. I'm eagerly anticipating the second book. (I say second book, because it's a series of seven. Seriously).
MAKEUP/FASHION A globe necklace and Calvin Klein Lipstick (in Dangerous)
(The necklace Best Friend Rachael gave me)
(Calvin Klein Dangerous)
Again, it's a toss-up between a piece of jewellery I got as a gift, and a new lipstick I purchased. I absolutely adore this necklace. It was a late birthday gift from Best Friend Rachael, and omg. All the love. The globe actually swings and I just love it. Couldn't tell you where it's from though, so sorry about that.
The other favourite last month? My Calvin Klein lipstick. Right, so I feel like this needs to come with a back story. It was late August, and I was wandering around the internet, revelling in my new-found freedom. I could finally buy things! Online! Omg! And then I'm on fishpond.com.au and I see something amazing. Calvin Klein lipstick for $10. I looked at the colour and it looked similar to one that I was after. It was fate. So I bought it and it came, and it's a little darker than I had thought it would be, but I love it. It's amazing. And that concludes the story part of this blog. Oh, and if you're after the colour it's: Dangerous (#113)

So those were my September favourites. What about you guys? What's tickled your fancy in the last month?
There have been so many movies recently that I've wanted to watch. And because I'm me, I've only seen about a quarter of them. But I thought mini reviews were in order, because why not?

Movies I have Seen Recently:
The Great Gatsby
Love, love, love, love, love this movie. I mean, I think that there's a few things I'd change but overall I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think that Baz Luhrrman definitely translated the book in a way in which the younger generations will relate and enjoy. I know that some people completely abhor it, but I think it was done wonderfully.
I mean, the 20's were the years of excess and frivolity. So even if the party scenes were a little over the top, I get the feeling that that's exactly how the people would've felt the parties were like. It made me want to fall in love with the book all over again, and ahhhh. So much love.
-&&&-
The Way, Way Back
One of my new favourite movies. It's such a well done, quirky depiction of the good ol' coming-of-age story.
-&&&-
Beautiful Creatures
This was surprisingly good. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. It was funny and when I was watching it, my brother got curious and came and watched it with me. He really liked it too. I think that both the actors and the script was incredibly strong and well-done.
-&&&-
The Reluctant Fundamentalist
This is a heavy watch (and I mean that in the best sense). I found it provocative and it truly made you think afterwards. I'm a huge fan of movies that make you want to think afterwards.
So, I'm sure you're all wondering how Captain America is (considering I left you on that note). It is freaking amazing. Go see it. NOW. Seriously peeps. Admittedly, the main dude (Chris Evans) reminds me quite a bit of Channing Tatum, but the whole movie is full of amazing actors who I love and have slight crushes on. I literally spent every ten seconds silently screaming because there were so many actors who I love/ have seen in other things (according to my friend, this isn't normal).
Other than that, I've been doing school work, and catching up on Castle. IT'S BEEN A FUN NIGHT.
Now, I actually have a (sort of) point for this blog (for once). Today, all grade 11's got their very first OP estimations. Now, I'm not sure about any other Australian school, but at mine, the moment you enter grade 11 is the moment teachers start freaking out about the importance of getting good grades, etc. (which, admittedly, I agree with. *shrugs* Don't blame me, I've been under the influence of an English teacher my whole life). Today was the VERY first time we'd ever gotten anything like this. Now, of course, if you know me, than you know how neurotic I can get. That was the case today. Ultimately, in the end, I didn't really need to worry, but that's not the point.
The teacher who was giving us our OP scores (for those of you who don't know what an OP score is, I'll link it here) was telling us that heaps of students she knew had, at first, gotten really good OP scores in grade 11, and decided that there was no need to continue studying hard if they were going to end up with something really good anyway. It actually got me thinking about things.
I know heaps of people who work hard. Nay, I make sure that I surround myself around people who work hard. And whether it's because I've done this all my life, or it's just how I've evolved as a person, I've begun to really dislike people who never try. I think trying is something that makes people who they are, and gets people to places. This may be a major reason as to why I dislike Serena from Gossip Girl. I think, in my mind, people who don't bother with getting good marks aren't looking into the future and seeing how much their grades will affect them. I realise that in, say twenty years, your marks really won't define you as a person, but right now, as a high school student they affect your whole life. They decide whether or not you'll make it into your preferred uni course, they'll decide whether you'll actually be qualified to graduate. In essence, it is very important.
So because of this, because of the fact that there is a specific course I want to get into, I really hate it if people don't try. Because ultimately, if they don't try, it's going to affect not just their future, but it'll affect mine as well (that may sound self-absorbed, but it'll also affect everybody else who is working hard).
I'm thinking this is a whole bunch of ramble, so I apologise for that. I promise, tomorrow's blog will make more sense (hopefully). Seeya tomorrow, kids.
BOOKS CURRENTLY READING: Linger by Maggie Stiefvater By Midnight by Mia James WORDS WRITTEN THIS MONTH: 0 (I know, I've been busy) DAYS TILL BIRTHDAY: 22 QOTD: "I mean, how would Edward be able to stand being around Bella when she was on her period? Seriously, if he can't keep his cool when she cuts her finger, how would he act when she's bleeding for a whole week?" - Eleni
-----Oh, and if you guys were wondering (which you probably weren't), my OP estimation was 6-9, which I'm EXTREMELY happy with (I thought I'd be in double digits).
Yo. What up? Yea, posts beginning with that never work. Must work on introducing blog posts better.
I finished Clockwork Angel today! I never wanted it to end, but it had to *sob* Now I'm just another one of Cassandra Clare's fangirls waiting for her to produce the next two books coming out next year - how shall I ever survive? I've come to the conclusion that I do prefer the Infernal Devices series; blame it on this little, weird head of mine which happens to be a huge quixotic enigma, subconsciously.
Like how I managed to put that word into the sentence? It's a new favourite word that I discovered recently (mainly because of YouTuber owlssayhooot, but whatever)
Been creating a list of favourite songs, that I have done. I only realised how soppy I am when I was browsing the songs. The songs include: ~ Beside You by Marianas Trench ~ Thinking of You by Katy Perry ~ Hallelujah by Kate Voegele ~ Eet by Regina Spektor ~ Check Yes Juliet by We the Kings
My top 25 played playlist on iTunes consists of these songs: Little House (Amanda Seyfried), When the Day Met the Night (Panic at the Disco), Swing, Swing (All-American Rejects), Hallelujah (Kate Voegele), Samson, Fidelity, Apres Moi (All by Regina Spektor), Girls & Boys in Love (Rumple Strips), Ginny (A Very Potter Musical), Never Say Never (The Fray).
That, up there ^^^ is the top ten. Silly me. What are your top 10-25 most played songs on your iTunes?
I went to the markets today and that was quite lovely. I saw some really pretty stuff, but I only ended up buying eggs, and that was at mum's insistance.
I wrote a teensy bit, but then I had to stop because I had to go somewhere with me dearest mum. I also put about ten books on hold at my library because of the fact that I'm forbidden from buying any books. :(
I watched, 'The Young Victoria', which is like, the best, movie, EVER. I also got 'Easy Virtue'. I can't wait to watch that cos it's got Ben Barnes in it and that means EYE CANDY :D
I wanted to get 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' out as well, but mum said I had to wait until Tuesday. *tsktsk* Anyway, that's a long enough post for you to be amused, I suppose, have a lovely day, loverlies &dftba. xox
BOOK CURRENTLY (RE-)READING: A Great & Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
